Study Session for Geographers @ Earth Lab

Dear Geography Majors,

With the kind approval and support from the Department of Geography, the Earth Lab will be open for studying throughout the examination period (date and time reflected on the poster)!

Terms and conditions include:
1. Geography Majors & students reading GE1101e only.

2. No reservation of seats allowed. 

3. No food and drinks allowed in the Earth Lab. 

4. Noise must be kept to a minimum. 

5. Geog Soc will not be responsible for any missing belongings. 

So, grab your books/readings/laptops and come down to the Earth Lab for an alternative place to study!

Note: For Majors who have yet to collect your copy of Geosphere and mug, please come by the Earth Lab during the Reading Week (weekdays) from 9am to 5.30pm to collect them.

Geography Majors Tea - Friday 9 March 2012, 3-5pm at AS7 Seminar Rooms ABC

Dear Students,

Invitation to the Geography Majors Tea (Friday 9 March 2012, 3–5pm, AS7 Seminar Rooms ABC)

As a Geography major, you are an extremely important part of our Department.  Beyond the classroom, we would like to engage with you on an informal way and to get feedback from you regarding your experience at NUS. Towards this end, we are organizing a Geography Majors Tea on Friday 9 March 2011, 3-5pm, at AS7 Seminar Rooms ABC. If you happen to have a class at 2-4pm or 4-6pm, I hope the timing of the tea will allow you to join us at either at 4-5pm or 3-4pm. 


Some majors have expressed concerns about changes in the curriculum and requirements for pursuing Honours. Some important announcements on these matters (eg. GE3240, timeline for Year 3 final semester, GE4101A/B, Honours Thesis, ISM) will be made at the start of the session.  Then, students will get an opportunity to chat with various Geography lecturers (in a ‘rotational’ manner, so you get to meet with around 6 staff members in total). In previous years, students have told us they enjoy the chat most because it is a way to get to know their lecturers ‘up close and personal’.

Essay Clinic: Writing the Right Way

Welcome back to NUS for semester 2 of AY2011/2012!

NUS Geographical Society is organizing an Essay Clinic for all Geography Majors. Come and join in the discussion on how to write better essays and improve your essay writing skills! Hear from three professors with different research interests and raise your essay-related questions. Specially catered to your specific interest, there will be 2 sessions, Human Geography and Physical Geography, for you to choose from.

Human Geography Session
