The Singapore Land Authority will be organising the Singapore Geospatial Challenge [SGC] for Junior Colleges and Secondary School students to encourage the use of Geographic Information Systems technology in schools. The scavenger hunt game takes place in the real world and uses smartphone to enable contestants to monitor their progress and compete with other teams. The challenge is to help create a spatially enabled Singapore and the final challenge will be held on the 2 August 2013.
They are looking for enthusiastic NUS undergraduates to help mentor these SGChallengers on the 31st July and 2nd August 2013. This will be a fantastic opportunity for you to network with Geospatial professionals in Singapore and to learn firsthand about a brand new geospatial incentive in Singapore. Also, meals, geospatial goodies as well as due CCA and/or CIP hours will be provided for our mentors!
Scope of work for the SGC mentors includes but not limited to the following responsibilities [training will be provided]:
1. Be available on TWO of the following dates:
24/ 31st July [Prelims] [1300-1800 hrs] and/or 2nd August 2013 [0900-1800hrs]
2. Ensure that SGChallengers under their charge do not break any rules; both game and traffic
3. Assist SGC organizers in the facilitation the game play
4. Assist SGChallengers regarding their queries on the mobile and web application usage
5. Ensure that SGChallengers under their charge will return to the end point on time and to record their return time if participants do exceed
6. Tweet, photograph, video progress of team as the challenge progresses, these information will be broadcasted on a live web dashboard that tracks real-time progress of the teams!
7. Optional: test out the beta gameplay [late June, TBC]
